Advocating for those who are wounded by Narcissistic relationships

Whether currently in a narcissistic relationship or recently coming out of relationship where your partner was narcissistic or had strong traits of narcissism, there is a common dilemma shared by all, and that is confusion. So many effected by narcissistic relationships have lost a sense of self as well as confidence in who they are.

My practice is centered around helping clients get back their true and authentic identity. The reason this can be so hard, is because narcissistic abuse takes away a sense of truth and reality.

Feel free to request an appointment with me directly or use the contact form at the bottom of this page to inquire whether my counseling services are right for you.

Areas of Practice

individual

Individual work is necessary so that you have room to express the emotional impact of frustration, grief, and loneliness and all the while gain yourself back. So much of the process is getting a sense of yourself back. Often it involves help in staying away from the person because there will be an intense draw back to them.

workshops

These are generally one to two day workshops that are both provide both individual (one on one therapy), group therapy, and educational lectures. The benefit to these workshops is that its structured around a group of individuals that are in the same process of healing so there is a real benefit to a concentrated time over the course of a weekend.

group

We have found that this is one of the most beneficial processes because of healing from shared experiences. Healing happens in the bonding process of shared experiences. Groups provide an important aspect of additional support that individual therapy just can not replicate because many of the relationships created in groups extend beyond the group.

intensives

This can be a great and very helpful block time to allow one to have uninterrupted therapy. Intensives provide focused therapy specific to what you need and usually are 4 to 5 days. Generally, intensives consists of 4 to 5 hours of individual therapy along with additional holistic therapies that we collaborate with to provide services such as massages, yoga, acupuncture, neurofeedback etc.

couples

Couples can heal from narcissistic abuse in a relationship but it takes both doing a lot of individual work. Narcissistic abuse doesn’t have to be the nail in the coffin to the relationship if both are able to find their individual self in the process. This is where typical couples therapy falls short; there is an important step of healing from this type of abuse - on both sides.

Twelve Steps

The12 step community can be a great source of healing and wisdom for those seeking additional support. The two groups that we recommend are ACA and Al-Anon. They provide an aspect of healing that therapy (individual or group) cannot. We have found that so many clients have experienced a tremendous amount of healing through these programs. These are conducted outside our practice and are separate from Peloton Counseling.

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don’t mean to do harm, but the harm [that they cause] does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.
— T.S. Eliot
